December 2016 – What’s Happening in Puerto Rico?

It’s December 2016 and you are in Puerto Rico. If you are not aware Christmas in Puerto Rico starts early in fact it has already started and it lasts well into January, so here are a few of the highlights for December including: Christmas Lights Switched On, Hatillo Masks Festival, La Feria and many more.

Christmas Lights Switched On
Information about the switching on of the Christmas Lights around Puerto Rico is not the easiest to find but here are a few:
Dec 2, Jayuya Christmas Lights, 7pm Filiberto Garcia Sports Complex, Jayuya
Dec 2, Carolina Christmas Lights, 6pm Parque Julio De Burgos Fase 1, Carolina
Dec 2, Cabo Rojo Christmas Lights
Dec 3, Arroyo Christmas Lights, 6pm Plaza del Mercado, Arroyo

Towns across the island will have Christmas Light displays and more happening throughout the Christmas period, so check with the place you are staying for information

Dec 27-28, Hatillo Masks Festival, Plaza Publica, Hatillo

The Hatillo Mask Festival marks the day when the town remembers the ‘Santos Inocentes’ / Holy Innocents with a huge colourful parade with costumes and masks. The festival is very popular, so get there early and enjoy this traditional Puerto Rican Festival

Dec 1 – Jan 9, La Feria The Park, Hiram Bithorn Parking, San Juan

Annual Christmas Fun Park with rides big and small including a Mini-Circus, the Christmas Park, the Dancing Waters Show, Karaoke, Kiddie Land and BABYLAND a special covered area for children under 6. Entrance fee is $16.50 that covers some of the rides and there will be extra costs for the ‘Premium Attractions’. The park is located at theHiram Bithorn Stadium Parking Lot in San Juan (opposite Plaza Las Americas)

Dec 10, San Juan Christmas Boat Parade, San Juan Bay

The San Juan Bay will be filled with boats decorated with Christmas Lights and more during this annual Christmas event. The boat parade is scheduled to start at 5pm

Dec 15, Saborea Winter Party, San Juan

The Christmas edition of this popular food festival takes place at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino the Convention District, San Juan starting at 6:30pm. More than 20 restaurants will be participating during an evening of festive foods and more
