March 2020 – What’s Happening in Puerto Rico?

In March 2020 the south of the island is still feeling daily aftershocks from the large earthquake in January, but Puerto Rico is OPEN and tourist spots, tour operators, restaurants, hotels are all ready for you and popular events are happening all around the island. Highlights for March include; the Día Nacional de la Salsa, Puerto Rico’s National Rum Festival and IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico.

Mar 8, Día Nacional de la Salsa, San Juan

National Salsa Day / Día Nacional de la Salsa takes place at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan on Sunday, March 8. Popular Salsa artists and fans will descend on the stadium for a day full of great sounds. This year organizers are introducing 2 new ticket options: VIP Platino for $225pp, VIP Arena for $75pp and the regular General Admission for $20pp. Prices do not include tax.

Mar 7, Puerto Rico’s National Rum Festival / A Taste of Rum, Old San Juan

Once again a Taste of Rum / Puerto Rico’s National Rum Festival will take place at Bahia Urbana, Old San Juan on Saturday, March 7 from 6-11 pm. This is the largest rum festival in the Caribbean and aims to promote the islands, rum producers. Along with rum tasting, there will be, rum seminars, live entertainment, and great tasting food.

Mar 13-15, IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico: San Juan

The 10th Anniversary of Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico will take place from March 13-15 with the main event taking place on Sunday, March 15. Contestants from around the world will be participating in the popular Triathlon with events taking place in the Condado Lagoon, San Juan to Dorado Coast Run and a circuit around Old San Juan.

Mar 13-15, Festival de La China, Las Marias

The town of Las Marias will hold its annual  Festival de La China (Orange Festival) in the towns Plaza Publica. The weekend-long event will feature locally grown oranges, artisans, food stalls, music and family activities

Mar 14-15, 7th Fiesta del Café, Jayuya

Jayuya will hold its annual Coffee Festival at the Filberto Garcia Sports Complex. The 2-day event will promote the area’s coffee production and features, barista competitions, cooking competitions, La Grand Colada (Grand Coffee Pot), artisans, music and family activities

Mar 20-22, Carnival Mabo, Guaynabo

Tablado Del Rio in Guaynabo will host the town’s popular Carnival Mabo on March 20-22. The weekend-long carnival features, parades, King Mabo, The Burial of the Sardine, artisans, music and family activities.
