December 2018 – What’s Happening in Puerto Rico?

December 2018, Christmas has already started here in Puerto Rico and will go on well into January :). The Coquito is flowing, the Christmas Lights are being turned on and there are a host of events happening throughout the month. Here are a few to get you excited about enjoying Puerto Rico at Christmas.

December EVENTS:

Dec 7 – Jan 6: Navitown, Old San Juan

The Bahia Urbana in Old San Juan is transformed into a Christmas Wonderland with rides, Christmas decorations and lights for all the family to enjoy.
Navitown is open Tues – Friday *6-11pm) and Sat & Sun *3-11pm). The cost is $3.95 + tax with rides not included.

Dec 8, Christmas Boat Parade, San Juan Bay

The annual Christmas Boat Parade takes place in San Juan Bay on December 8 starting at 8pm. Boat owners pull out all the stops by decorating their boats with Christmas lights and decorations for a cool Christmas Boat Parade. You can watch the parade from the waterside from Bahia Urbana to Old San Juan or from the Pan Am Pier.

Dec 28, Hatillo Mask Festival, Hatillo

The famous Mask Festival takes place on December 28 in Hatillo. There is a huge parade with people in traditional masks and costumes along with typical Christmas foods, music and more. This is a hugely popular event on the island, so expect large crowds.

Also happening in December

You will find that most towns will have a Christmas Tree, Lights and decorations typically in the towns main plaza (square). If the lights have not already been switched on, then watch for special events at the start of December.

Large Christmas Amusement Park located in the parking area of Hiram Birthorn Stadium in San Juan.

Dec 6. Saborea Puerto Rico Winter Party

A Christmas Food Festival with top chefs from around the island participating. This years event takes place at the San Juan Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino in Condado

Dec 8 – 9, Ballaja Barracks: Christmas Bazaar, Old San Juan

The Ballaja Barracks in OLd San Juan will host its 3rd annual Christmas Bazaar. Theire will be artisan demonstrations and crafts for sale, along with music and traditional Christmas foods. The Bazaar is open from noon – 7pm both days.
